Brief report on pilot study Coledale Reconciliation office

Saturday 30 December, 2006 - 09:19 by NIRTG in Default

views (245) | rating ooooo (0 votes)

In 2005 NIRTG gained a small grant from the NSW Reconciliation Council. Part of this small grant was to cover some expenses associated with a local reconciliation group having an office. This was to be a pilot study.

We were successful in gaining a very inexpensive office at Coledale from Wollongong City Council and ran the Coledale office as a pilot study throughout 2006.

A personal account by way of feedback on this pilot study has been prepared and is now available (in doc form) at the NIRTG website. See http://users.bigpond.net.au/nirtg/

WCC has agreed to extend the occupancy agreement for the Coledale office until June 2007 and NIRTG members are now looking at ways of raising funds to continue this experiment.

As well as seeking grants from funding bodies, a call will be made to local people interested in reconciliation to provide financial support for the local reconciliation process. More details on how to provide this support later.

Amendments to NSW RC Constitutional - from an LRG perspective.

Tuesday 24 October, 2006 - 23:15 by NIRTG in Default

views (515) | rating ooooo (0 votes)

Most Local Reconciliation Groups in NSW will now have received the information about the proposed changes to the NSW Reconciliation Council's Constitution.

These amendments will be voted on at a Special General Meeting of the NSW RC as part of the AGM and annual conference in Sydney on the weekend of 4-5 November, 2006.

Two discussion pieces on alternative amendments, aimed at making the NSW RC a good vehicle for a peoples movement, have been placed on the North Illawarra Reconciliation & Treaty Group website.

These pieces contain the views of the writer (Bruce Reyburn) and have yet to be endorsed (or otherwise) by NIRTG members in order to take a NIRTG members position paper to the Special General Meeting.

The two pieces, in 'doc' format, can be downloaded from the NIRTG webiste at url  http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/nirtg/
